Last month our Council’s Friends of Scouting (FOS) annual giving campaign for 2024 kicked off.
You may ask, why is Council asking for donations if they are already collecting a membership fee? Well, the reason for that is the Council Membership Fees paid by members actually covers less than 10% of the Council’s operating costs. This can be seen in the pie charts showing the Council’s expenses and revenue in the attached flyer.
When you give to Scouting, you help create a safe place where every kid belongs, grows and achieves. Through Friends of Scouting, your gift supports programs and day-to-day needs which increase the impact Scouting has in our units and communities. Greater LA Scouting is the largest Scout Council in the Southwest. Our Scouts and adult volunteers reflect a cross section of ethnicities, national origins, religions, and socio-economic status.
We are asking if each family in our District can donate to Friends of Scouting to reach our District goal. To reach that goal we estimated that if your family can donate at least $30 we can reach that goal. However any amount you can give, even if it is small, will make a big difference to Scouting in your area.

Hello Pio Pico Leaders,
Hope you have a fun summer planned! As is tradition, instead of a normal Roundtable we are instead hosting a picnic while playing some “Minute to Win it” games. All of this is going to be set up at Palm Park, 5703 Palm Ave, Whittier, CA 90601 at 6pm going until 9pm. This will be a great way to get to know your fellow scouters while sharing a meal and competing with each other. If you are interested please register so we can have a seat at the table (park bench) for you.
Registrations are $8 per person and will be closing Friday June 14 at midnight, which includes: Hamburgers, Hotdogs, and plenty of other BBQ staples!
